I like how people in this thread claim they know every legit "high roller". You don't know every rich player in this game. Guild Wars has millions of players. You don't know the wealth of millions of people. Stop claiming everyone who is rich is a ebayer, duper, scammer, hacker, or whatever else you want to call it.
Did you ever bother to think about it for a little bit?
- Maybe they played a long time?
- Maybe they are really passionite about the game?
- Maybe you suck at Guild Wars?
Guild Wars gold is too easy to get. I have gotten over 500,000 gold over the past month playing around 100 hours. That was starting from scratch with 0 gold, no characters, while playing the game with minimal trading and farming, I spent most of the time playing the game, beating every campaign. If I farmed the whole time I played I could easily have been in the millions. Learn to play Guild Wars better.

yeah right! I remember someone said before that according to ANET's stats, average players don't have more than 20K. Unless you are very lucky to get a super drop, I don't see how normal gameplay can earn you 500K within 1 month!

No, many dupers got away with in, in fact, some ditched their items ahead of time to someone else, or traded it to a spare account. The damage of getting obsidian armor, and what not, wasn't fixed.

Even making 500,000 a month, it would take more than 184 months - that's 15 years - to get 92 million gold. Does that sound reasonable to you?
* edit: thanks to the post below me for correcting my math. I thought there was something funny about the number but I trust my calculator more than my intuition where math is concerned. I must have left out a zero somewhere...

@ the poster above me Your calculations are horribly off... 500k a month over 15 months is 7.5million gold.
Anyway back on track, I am not much of a "Power Seller", I managed to make well over 400k with only a 125k investment this week. I bought 100 lockpicks and ran chests for Underworld Inscripable items and out of those 100 lockpicks I got a few req 9 inscripable uw items.
I can see how people make that money, I just feels its a huge waste to spend that much money on 1 item, it must have taking a few years to build up that much and to blow it on an item that will soon be less rare then the crystalline sword.
Crystalline Sword can only drop in HoH (so far...)
Eternal Sword can drop in UW end chest which many pvers can Ursan-way in about 2 hours. Theres a TON more pvers then pvpers.

It's really very simple. I run 100 people a week to Droks or other places for an average of 2k per person. The math is pretty simple. 100 x 2k = 200 plat a week x 4 weeks average month is 600k a month.
So, just because you can't do the droks run and make oodles of money doesn't mean we all can't. Running money is the easiest money to make in this game. There's a gold mine in running money out there. I usually can't pop into any high population zone without finding someone that wants or needs a run somewhere.

There definitely is STILL a way to dupe, I got a screenshot earlier today... someone was looking to buy a Miniature Kanaxi for 3 Mini Panda+3 Ecto stacks+1 stack of Armbrace...
Don't tell me that dosen't make you sick. I got the screenshot AND the little trade window with the $hit in it.

This is the tempest that results over rares that are skin-only. They give not a single advantage over a collector's item worth 125 gold.
I just hope Anet has the wisdom to retain their strict policy of meaningless elite items in GW2.

duping is not back, but duped armbraces are still around, just think it this way, when does DoA introduced to us? like what, almost a year ago? lets say, the BEST team out there, 8 real ppl(there was no usran blessing back then), can finish the whole DoA run in 6 hours, lets say we started at Margonite place(city), 1 margo gem+2 tormented gem+3stygian gem+4 titan gems. idealy, If only IF you get lucky you get 2 of the same type of the gems in each area, thats:3 margo 4 tormented 5stygian 6titans, +after defeating mallyx, +1 to each type of the gems, ends up 7 hours you will get total of 22 gems. Tormented weapons need 60 gems(15 of each type) to trade in. that means, 3 runs , you may get an armbrace. 21 hours for 3 armbraces. 800+ armbraces=5600 hours=233 days. thats the IDEAL numbers of the armbraces you will get, not counting in any thing else. This means, THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN FARM THAT MANY ARMBRACES ON YOUR OWN. now comes down to just buying them, who in this game that can afford 800 armbraces use either in game currency or stupid enough to pay real money?so my question is, where are those armbraces came from?

It's pretty simple to clear DoA in 2 hours these days (since SY). Not to mention with the falling price of gems and the amount of plat people may have saved up.

Take a look at Racthoh's team setup (I know he's posted it somewhere).
A paragon with Focused Anger + "Save Yourselves!" basically means nothing can kill your team. The total time is usually a bit over 2h, below 3h, (and doesn't count Mallyx, which takes another 20-30 mins or so for another 4 gems), but it's still fairly quick.
I expect if he stopped taking sub-par support characters (Mesmers like me!), a bit more time could get shaved off.

It's funny some of you just claim yeah i know some people with 60mil.
And many many stacks of ecto.
Sure after a good night sleep i thought yeah maybe some people are rich but some people are to rich.
And nobody can proof anything that they got there stuff by farming/grinding
Sure i have my fair share of money but it ain't more then 900k spent something yesterday did go down to 460k
I consider myself a scrooge if it's about money.

I know it seems crazy that someplayer can have 60mil+ gold or 250 armbraces or whatever, but just think for a minute. Guild wars is only a game and having stacks of ecto+arms isn't gonna help them one bit in real life.
I really don't see why people moan about others being incredibly rich when you can get perfect items and nice skinned items for incredibly cheap amounts. And to be honest, what exact items are people buying wih their huge hoard of ectos? Think of the extremely rare minis and eternal blades as a reward for the players who have spent the last 2+ years hoarding gold and ecto, they give no real ingame benefit so lets just leave the rich to the rich shall we?

comments from a serious gamer
Hi i am the seller of the Eternal Blade. At first i did not wanted to post any comments to this Thread but now i will do. I want to explain how it is possible to have so much money and how it is possible that other do not believe that they earned this money legal. Take me for example... maybe i am one of the richest 10 GW gamers but that is not cause i am so good or cause i farm so lot.... no that is cause i am a hard power trader from hour one of Guild Wars and cause i spended over 10.000 hours on this game and cause i am trading whole the day. if you get a starting money about 200k which is easy to get you will be able to make in one week 1000k with trading. than you buy as cheap as you can ectos for 900 k and you have your first 200ectos and 100k. now you check wich items are selling good and which of em you can afford atm. From now its on you to buy the weapon or pets at the minimum price and sell for the maximum price that will take your time and i mean really much of your time. Selling the Eternal Blade takes about 50+ hours till now and not sold till this moment. If you are clever and act like this its possible to make 100-500 ectos profit each day and if you have enough ectos you have to buy yourself Ambraces. if you do this for many many month you will earn your 100+++ Ambraces and if you start to bid at very hot high end items with your XTREME hard earned money some guys like you will start flaming and... Not a big thing but that is how it works. Dont look negative to someone who is nearly online 24/7 he is working hard for the money and can be proud of it. And if some Items (which are maybe the only ones in the whole Game with 5 million active Gamers) are going in auctions or will be sold ingame or somewhere else... do you think they go for 100+5 ectos only that a hobby gamers can afford it... no it wont. It will be sold for the very very maximum prices that maybe can be afforded from 30-40 gamers of the 5 million comunity. Please rethink it and look from other perspectives at the whole thing maybe i was able to open your eyesBest Regards from.... a serious Gamer with 10.000+++ gaming hours and 12 chars......

we shall, for sure, i dont mind duped armbraces floating around in high ended market at all. however, think this way, if YOU ever want a rare item, and you have a decent amount money, YOU SIR cant have it, period, no matter how hard you earned your money, how much you have in your storage, you cant win in the competition of the Armbrace War, you just cant win i am not whining, i have enough money that i can afford 99.9% of the in game items, and i know myself as a hardcore trader as well, but this whole eternal blade thing just sicks me that how left over armbraces can effect so much of the high end area. recall when very 1st STygian reaver dropped from halls, how much it went, that was very 1st one of the entire GW, 100k+400e-500e?very 2nd mini Ghostly Hero which was the very 1st one posted on guru, which i was the buyer, 305 ectos flat... too many example to list, these alll happens before DUPE.

Personally it doesn't really comfort me much to see my offer from let say Mini Panda doubled by some smart ass duper, bid wars are helluva fun but in this case I'd rather rip the spine and make sushi sauce from the spinal fluids of the guy behind those armbraces.
High End market ain't very healthy in GW at the moment & hasn't been for a long time, imo.
